Description

To find the mass of a component, you must go into the iProperties, click on the Physical tab, click Update if it’s required, and then search for the box with Mass.  The “Mass In Lbs” app does all of this for you and displays the results on the right click menu.

Do you need to copy the mass for use in a spreadsheet, shipping weight, or email?  The “Mass In Lbs” app allows you to copy the mass directly to the clipboard so you can use it wherever you want.

Do you ever need to find the combined mass of just a few components in an assembly or maybe an assembly and another part?  With standard Autodesk® Inventor® functionality, you would have to go through the steps of finding the mass of each individual component and then manually sum up the values. The “Mass In Lbs” app allows the user to multi-select parts & assemblies, etc. and displays the mass sum in the right click menu.  The copy to clipboard functionality also works with multi-select.

Have an idea for an app that you can’t find on the Inventor app store?  Contact us at and we will do our best to create the app for you.

- See the mass of any component, part, or assembly at a glance.

- Multi-select components for a mass sum.

- Option to copy the mass to your clipboard.

This is a great tool for engineers, shipping, sales, and anyone who views or uses the physical mass.

Been using this for years first thing I go in a new install is to get this tool.  Very handy for quickly checking component weights or getting weight for Assemblies for shipping purposes.

Nice extra to add in is a configuration where you can add a 'fudge-factor' like a % extra to the calc weight.

This is an awesome tool for on the fly mass properties. I work with vibratory masses so knowing the accumulative weight is extremely key. I really like how it integrates into the browser tree as well. Super simple. Thanks!

Excellent little add-in but it really doesn't like suppressed parts.
