Autodesk® Remote

Autodesk, Inc.
Subscription App

Autodesk® Remote is a stand-alone application for Microsoft Window 7 and 8 and is compatible with all Autodesk products. It lets you drive Autodesk software installed on your primary computer from a remote computer for fast access to native design data over standard networks. To use it, simply install Autodesk Remote on the PC you want to share. Install it again on the machine you want to connect from and start your connection.

Autodesk Remote also has a companion iPad application for Autodesk® Inventor®, Autodesk® Revit®, and Autodesk® Maya. The App allows you to access your host PC from an iPad so you can work from anywhere, improving collaboration and increasing flexibility.  Please note: At this time, the iPad App supports Inventor, Revit, and Maya.

·         Support for Maya 2015 with the iPad client

Autodesk Remote requires that you have a Subscription account that is associated with an Autodesk product. Remote is dependent on availability bandwidth and connectivity. Depending on your local infrastructure, your performance may vary.

We are continually updating the application to address connectivity issues as we encounter new network environments and firewalls. If you encounter persistent connectivity issues we encourage you to post to the Autodesk Remote Forum so our technical team can identify if the problem is specific to your network environment or firewall, and so they can fix the issue.

    Florian Neumayr | January 22, 2015

Florian, There is currently no Android version available, but we will consider developing an Android app if there is enough demand. Thanks for your feedback.

  • Won't install
Giles Phillips | October 31, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

Error -500 (and yes, I am admin).

    John Schmier | October 31, 2014

Giles, Sorry to see your having an install issue. The -500 error usually indicates a problem installing the service on your system. We have a forum for support for Autodesk Remote and a support email alias that will put you in contact with the developers and support teams. If you could post your issue the forum or email the support team we can look further into this:

  • Cannot connect
Jason Young | August 28, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

I am able to see each computer under connect window. I have turned off all firewalls. They are connected to the same switch. One is windows 8 other win 8.1.

    John Schmier | August 28, 2014

Jason, Sorry to hear your having issues with Autodesk Remote connecting between two PC's. We have a FAQ and Discussion group to provide support for Autodesk Remote. FAQ: Discussion Group: can you please post this question to the Discussion Group and if possible, remove the review as this is more of a support question then review. Thank you.

  • Works with Android in future?
    Bernd Schulze | July 18, 2014

Haven't tried it yet, Android compatibility planned in future?

    John Schmier | July 21, 2014

Bernd, For the Android platform if we see enough demand we will consider porting to the platform, at this time we do not have a scheduled release for Android. As for your rating, if you haven't tried it yet, why post a rating? We have a forum for questions related to Autodesk Remote.

  • Works with iPad?
Ron Dietel | May 12, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

Haven't tried it yet, but has anyone tried being productive with Autodesk Inventor on an iPad (i.e., constructing a large assembly model, without use of a mouse), and if so, what were the results?

    John Schmier | May 13, 2014

Ron, thank you for your question. The iPad application was designed for navigation primarily by mapping common touch gestures to viewing operations, such as cameral operations. For design work I would suggest using the PC client.

  • it took a few trys,
JEFFREY FRANKEL | April 24, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    but finally connected.

  • Good
Matthew Halveland | March 08, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

Better than Windows Remote Desktop. This has a lot of potential and I hope Autodesk takes this seriously and keeps making quick improvements. My one big complaint is that it only has iPad support. I really want to see support for Win8 platforms!

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

Thank you for the feedback Matthew. We have Autodesk Remote Forum at that you can post any wishlist items for Autodesk Remote. I would be interested in getting more feedback on the Win8 platform support your looking for.

    Ryan Sanderson | April 01, 2014

hi any chance this autodesk remote app can be made available to students? I have the ipad app and inventor but cant use it, it would allow me to carry my ipad and leave my cumbersome laptop at home when studying away

    John Schmier | April 03, 2014

Thank you for the feedback. I would encourage you to submit this feedback to the student forum's.

  • Looks good if it worked
KopexWaratah Pty Ltd | February 15, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

It seems to be logging in but the screen is not showing?? Only shows the log in needed thanks

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

A new release of Autodesk Remote was published last week that addresses connectivity issues. Although your issue may be related to the log-in process. In which case please check the date/time on your system before logging in. There is a time sync between the servers and the local machine that may invalidate the certificate for login.

  • Okay for a start...
Duncan Lithgow | November 29, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Looks promising. But as soon as I got the remote PC connection I was at a login window. With no way to forward the 'ctrl+alt+del' keys (my local machine intercepts those keystrokes) I couldn't log in.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

A new release of Autodesk Remote was published, please download and try the new version. After you log-in you should see a button for login. If you are missing this button for any reason you can use CTRL+SHIFT+DEL instead of the ctrl+alt+del. There should have been a popup in the lower left corner instructing you on the alternate method for login.

  • Incompatibilité avec Windows 7 en français
Luc Doucet | November 27, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Le produit ne semble pas être compatible avec des version françaises du système d'exploitation Windows. Selon un représentant d'Autodesk sur les forums, ce problème sera traité dans une version future.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

A new release of Autodesk Remote was published last week that should address the French OS issues. Please download and try again. Thank you.

  • Can get computer back from the list once it clear
Ankur Prajapati | November 16, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

I have tried this product and accidently clear the main computor from the list . I can not find an easy way to get it back ..

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

Please try the latest version of Autodesk Remote, this will re-register your systems once you upgrade. If you clear the host machine again and it doesn't re-register itself after a few minutes go to the host and turn off sharing, then turn it back on. If the problem persists, make sure you are using the same Autodesk Subscription account on both computers.

  • Almost Great
George Deasy | September 26, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

It worked great on my tablet but it shrunk the main computer screen and the resolution on the main computer is like 640x480 but looks great on the ipad with 1os7

  • Failed Install, Connection Problems and Dual Monitor
Erin Bradner | September 25, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Thanks for the feedback. The response to Autodesk Remote has been so enthusiastic that our servers are lagging. If you're having difficulty downloading, installing the app from the Exchange Apps Store, or connecting, please wait a few minutes and try again. We also realize that dual monitors are common; Dual Monitor support is in the works! We also realize that our users are seeking a solution across all our applications for the iPad. At this time, The iPad app is only compatible with Autodesk Inventor. We do not recommend using it with other Autodesk applications yet since gestures aren't supported in any application except Inventor.

  • Can't even install it.....
Daniel Miller | September 25, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Well I was excited to give it a try but it stops installing without giving a error message generated or anything, just appears to unpack files.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

A new release of Autodesk Remote was published to address install issues. If you continue to have issues with installing please post to the forum Feedback like this is needed for the product team to address issues related to different environments.

  • Not Multi-Display Friendly
Nick Malizia | September 25, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

This software would work well in a single display environement, even when it says my computer is experiencing a heavy load, it is quite responsive. However, every CAD station at my company runs Dual Monitors if not Tri Monitors. There is absolutely no way to switch between the monitors, and this is a big problem in my environment.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

The latest release of Autodesk Remote supports Multi-display for both the iPad client and PC.

    Bob Dean | April 02, 2014

Do you mean Revit 2014 or Revit 2015? 2014 certainly does NOT support multiple monitors in any meaningful way. If 2015 does then that's very good news.

    John Schmier | April 03, 2014

The multiple monitor support is for Autodesk Remote. This will allow users to either switch between monitors while in a session or stream both monitors into separate windows on the PC.

  • Not ready for prime time
David Gorjup | September 25, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Crashed on install on plain vanilla Win7 I7 computer built specifically to run Inventor Ultimate Suite that is used to VPN into corporate Vault and run Inventor locally. Reported to not support multiple monitors. I haven't seen a single monitor cad system in years. I'll wait a while to see if it matures.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

David, We now have support for multi-monitor on both the iPad and PC versions. If you continue to have install issues with the latest version please post feedback to and our tech support will help you get the product installed.

  • ADRemote vs PCAnywhere or TeamViewer or RDC+VPN
CRAIG GORSUCH | September 24, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

ADR is "simply another entry" into the field where, TeamViewer, RDC, PCA and other remote applications already exist. With a lack of "full screen" like RDC over the LAN, and a latency that matches RDC, I'm underwhelmed. The distinct advantage this product holds is the IT deployment factor. IT will not need to deal with an additional vendor, and it might be easier to keep operators from going "rogue" with their own remote applications. For the record, I use TeamViewer because it's cross-platform and supports full screen. If PCoIP were open-sourced (and didn't require special hardware), then everyone could play with super-low latency, a la Terridici cards.

  • cant install
Ben Trusty | September 24, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

installer error with -1073741819 cant continue. nothing on google. might be cause I have autocad and revit running when installing. will try again later.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

The latest release supports Revit and Inventor. We have also addressed a number of installer issues. Please try the latest version and post any issues to Thank you

  • bad.... does not work, gets disconnected every second
Victor Wolansky | September 24, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

it gets disconnected every few seconds.... looks like a rebranding of teamviewer to me with really bad connection. Teamviewer actually works fine for me and never crashes or hang at all

  • not good
TY GOLDEN | September 24, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

Revit crashed when i tried to use the app on my iPad.

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

Autodesk Remote v1.5 now supports Revit 2014. Please download the latest iPad and PC versions and try again. Thank you

  • Good Start
JAMES KING | September 24, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

It probably works well for a single monitor environment, but all of our CAD stations are dual monitor systems and it doesn't appear you can display both screens at the same time or even toggle between them. Also, it reset the host computers resolution which caused the desktop icons to be re-arranged and the Command Line & other palettes that were on the second monitor were also moved around (oddly enough not so they could be views on the primary monitor). Is a little "laggy", but no more than any other remote control software I have used. Very interested to see what Autodesk does with this software, could be a great tool for users!

    John Schmier | March 11, 2014

James, We have released a new version of Autodesk Remote that supports Multi-Monitor environments and Revit 2014. Please give the latest version a try. As for the resizing the screen, this is done to provide the maximum screen size on the client machine. You can over-ride the size of the screen connection with the dropdown at the top of the window on the PC. The iPad client doesn't have an over-ride and will always force a resize.

  • Cannot get it to work
