CADtoEarth 2.2 for Autodesk® Revit® extending a family of add-ins that establishes a bi-directional connection between CAD environments and Google Earth or Google Maps. The CADtoEarth 2.2 add-in now allows users to create personal accounts on the CADtoEarth web application and provides individual control over the visibility of uploaded data.

Here is the partial list of what you can expect from the tool:

• Import a section of surface from Google Earth into modeling session as Toposurface;

• Import a pre-drawn sketch from Google Earth or GoogleMaps into a modeling session;

• Get information about building layer from Google Earth;

• Place your 3D structure on the imported toposurface within modeling session and then upload it back to Google Earth;

• Upload your 3D structure directly from a modeling session onto Google Earth;

• Convert your 3D structure to 3D PDF format;

Please take a look at the following video that demonstrates a basic functionality provided by CADtoEarth 2.2:

  • Accuracy Problem
    Carlo Ly | February 23, 2015 Verified Download (What's this?)

    The features seem to work but like others have said, the scale/accuracy seems to be off. Spent a lot of time trying to readjust toposurface to match, in the end I couldn't trust using it due to accuracy concerns.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | February 24, 2015

    Hi Carlo. Google Earth API provides satellite image that could have deviations that are differ from originals. We know about this limitation and reported this issue to our bug tracking system. To locate your model correctly you can use 'Drawing Mode' functionality, where specify borders (curves) of surface. See more information in 'Surface & Drawing tab' section (Chapter 4) in 'CADtoEarth For Autodesk Revit User's Guide': http://cadtoearth.amcbridge.com/cadtoearth_revit_manual_2.2.pdf

  • Not User Friendly
    Eric Gleaves | February 18, 2015 Verified Download (What's this?)

    The interface is not intuitive and the user manual only tells you what the program is supposed to do...not how to do anything. This did exactly nothing for me.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | February 24, 2015

    Hi Eric, general description how to use the application is present in CADtoEarth For Autodesk Revit User's Guide (Link to download: http://cadtoearth.amcbridge.com/cadtoearth_revit_manual_2.2.pdf) If you have ideas how to enhance our product and user manual more than please share your ideas and write us support@amcbridge.com

  • Not work
    István György Tar | February 16, 2015 Verified Download (What's this?)

    After loading the site (get surface) to my project the buildings are not there. What is the problem I tried it many times the same way like in the video. Revit2015 Win8

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | February 24, 2015

    Hi István. 1) One of reason of is the flag 'Save 3D building layer information' turned off in 'Surface & drawings' Tab (CADtoEarth Pane). 2) Also, the potential reason of the issue could be lack of information about imported buildings. Unfortunately, Google Earth API doesn’t provide access to their building models. That’s why CADtoEarth add-in uses Open Street Maps for getting information about characteristic of buildings. However, even Open Street Maps has limited information about buildings. Probably you met similar case. I would recommend you importing a building that has height information for sure, for example 'Statue of Liberty' (New York, Coordinates: 40°41'21 N 74°2'40 W) - here there is information about pedestal of statue and it can be imported. Test it. 3) Third reason could be setting (Visibility & graphics/Generic Models) in Revit that do not allow indicating buildings in project. If above doesn't help and you want to discuss this issue more then please write us a letter (support@amcbridge.com)

  • Its give something. doenknow about reliability/accuracy
    Ela Rajapackiyam | December 22, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    I was wondering how accurate the contours on the Google terrain maps are and how they are derived? When I import from cad earth to Revit it doesn't give right height? Am I missing anything?

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | January 09, 2015

    Hi Ela, please contact support@amcbridge.com with detailed description, coordinates that you uses and screenshots of issue.

  • Buildings will not show up
    Lee B | December 12, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    I selected the 3D button for buildings when I saved the google image and the building masses are not showing up in my Revit 2015 model....what's the deal?

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | December 18, 2014

    Hi Lee, please contact support@amcbridge.com with detailed description, coordinates that you uses and screenshots of issue.

    Hi Samson. Currently, to download CADtoEarth add-in you should click on "Free" button.

  • Does not work at all - Proxy server issue apparently
    Vianney Miti | October 31, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    tried installing this to use on one of my projects but apparently can't be used if you use internet proxy servers. This rules out many people in any organisation that uses proxy servers. Have wasted plenty time trying to get this to work; they should make it clear at the outset stating limitations to the Add in.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | November 13, 2014

    Hello Vianney. Unfortunately, the current version of CADtoEarth plug-in doesn’t support proxy servers. If proxy server is in use then you can detect the issue with login process (login and reset password are impossible).

  • Doesnt work
    James Dixon | October 02, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    1. please can you state that anything above 500m elevation will result in buildings not being exported? 2. Will not upload any model that has more than 20k parts? Virtually rules out even the slightest detail designed model Just doesnt work other than capturing topo data which is next to useless as anything less than a site topo isnt acceptable for detail design work.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | October 07, 2014

    Hi James. 1. Currently,function "Save 3D Building layer information" works below 500 meters height. We asked development for increasing this height. 2. Limitation in 21852 items (triangles) is on Google Earth API side and we can't configure it. CADtoEarth just checks number of items before exporting model and inform user if limitation is excided. In order to workaround this limitation you can decrease the amount of triangles making the model lighter. Note: for some CAD systems (Inventor, Revit, Rhino) you can select triangulation level (high, medium, low) in CADtoEarth export dialog. Your feedback is valuable for us. If you have ideas how to enhance our product more than please share your ideas and write us support@amcbridge.com

  • Accuracy
    Claus Persson | September 30, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Great idea for this app. Having problem with accuracy though. About 25% difference compared with measurement directly i GE. Tried with 2 different location - same outcome. Using metric template and 1 foot = 0.3048 meters when calculating height and width for image. Decimal delimeter set to "." Using Revit 2015 on Windows 7 Any suggestions?

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | October 07, 2014

    Hi Claus, please contact support@amcbridge.com with detailed descriptions and screenshots of issue.

  • Mediocre
    Marcel Dingemanse | September 29, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    When grabbing google earth data you cant have more then 20 buildings in view...what? Why not 50? Another thing: the installement of the software overruled my shared parameter file location!!!

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | September 29, 2014

    Hi Marcel , current version of CADtoEarth can only import 20 houses at the same time located (fully or partially) in the current zoom state of given surface. About second part of your review please contact support@amcbridge.com with more detail descriptions and screenshots of issue.

  • Beautiful
    Pablo Lichtig | September 19, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Just it didn´t took me the logitude properly, but I locate manualy , and ¡it was great!. Thanks.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | September 29, 2014

    Hello .... Problem with zero latitude occurs when used national format (e.g. Spanish) where "comma" (,) is set as decimal delimiter by default. The issue doesn't happen when "dot" (.) is decimal delimeter (e.g. English). To avoid the issue: Open Control Panel \ Region and Language \ Formats and at the Additional settings tab choose the dot (.) in the 'Decimal symbol'.

  • 2015?
    Steve Gordon | June 20, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Can we expect an update for 2015 versions. Works well for me for initial design & site planning. Google elevation info a little to course at times on small jobs. Thanks

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | July 01, 2014

    Hi Steve, current version of CADtoEarth doesn’t support Revit 2015. The next CADtoEarth.Revit release is planned for current year. In this version CADtoEarth will support Revit 2015.

  • not yet work with Windows 8.1 Pro
    Ricardo Freitas | June 02, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Hello, i'm waiting for a answer of you

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | June 02, 2014

    Hi Ricardo, we have answered to you via email.

  • Have had this API key problem since trying it in 2013
    Neal Bijlani | May 14, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Ever since trying this software out, I've never gotten past the error "The Google maps API key used on this web site was registered for a different web site." I have recently redownloaded with no luck.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | June 02, 2014

    We think it can be connected with version of Google Earth Plug-in that you use. Please uninstall Google Earth Plug-in from your computer. (To do that enter Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a program). And then install the last version of plug-in. You can download it here: http://www.google.com/earth/explore/products/plugin.html If it won't help, please write us on support@amcbridge.com.

  • Cant even register a new account
    Thomas Hill | April 22, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    How do you register for cad to earth the link they give you is timed out

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | May 12, 2014

    It was answered via e-mail. The problem which you've faced is caused by using a proxy server. The current version of CADtoEarth plug-in doesn’t support proxy servers.

  • Either it is disapppointing, or I need help to get what is needed.
    Luigi Coletta | February 14, 2014 Verified Download (What's this?)

    If you are able to contact me and discuss it...it would be great. I'm able to get the building info as long as I'm covering a small enough area and if the buildings are 20 or less... but all buildings come 50' tall, regardless of google earth's info, and no roads are coming in either.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | May 08, 2014

    In some cases the imported buildings have the same height (50 feet). It happens because Google API does not support getting buildings' height. CADtoEarth add-in uses Open Street Maps for getting information about height of buildings. However, in some cases even Open Street Maps has no proper information about height - and then, for such buildings, CADtoEarth application defines height as 50 feet. That is the reason why many imported buildings have the same height.

  • Easy to use, Half the features work
    Rosanne Siegal | October 23, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Able to upload my building, and download the site. However, no buildings are coming in with the site from google earth even though I see them in the Google Pane, and the Get Drawing feature isn't working. BUT the site itself is great.

    Amc Bridge Tech Support | May 08, 2014

    There is a restriction when importing buildings in CADtoEarth. The application can only import 20 houses at the same time located (fully or partially) in the current zoom state of given surface. Also the reason could be related with visibility options - in "Visibility/Graphics Overrides" dialog (It is located in "View" tab) enable all visibility filters and see what happens.

  • Yet to see it work
    Peter Massie | October 04, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Once downloaded, Revit is telling me the AddInId node is already being used by revit. However are no add-ins available to select within Revit. It seems like a great app but unfortunately I'm yet to see it work.

  • Great tool for initial site planning
    Luke Johnson | July 29, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Using XP 64 bit and Google Earth 7.1.1.1888, I had no problem installing and using version 2 of this software.

  • Does not work at all on Revit 2013 or Revit 2014
    Elvir Gazic | June 18, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    This is the message you get: "The Google Maps API key used on this web site was registered for a different web site." If the problem is fixed I will change my rating, until then, don't waste your time downloading.

  • Can't get it to work
    Jin Lee | May 23, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Mananged to get the CADtoEarth Pane to work right after I installed it. Never was able to get a surface or drawing to import into Revit. The pane times out now after only working once.

  • Didn't work at all (Update)
    Brian Mackey | May 21, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Not sure if it is an Internet Explorer 10 issue or not but this app didn't work at all to acquire an image. Publisher got back to me with in hours of posting this comment and helped me work through the issue.

  • not sure what it does
    Forest Peterson | May 11, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    but work is not one of them...

  • Agreed!
    Tania Martins | February 08, 2013 Verified Download (What's this?)

    Indeed, I'm finding it hard to upload my model to Google Earth to make a realistic 3D concept on location. Great idea though!

  • Good Idea, But needs updates.
